INSTRUMENT GALLERY

Recent instruments include several commissioned guitars, as well as a number of instruments for consignment sale at local music stores. The guitars are described below, along with several photos of each instrument. Click on any of the photos for an expanded view.

In late 2005, I was commissioned by Dan Schutte, Composer in Residence at the University of San Francisco and Director of Music for the Office of University Ministries. Best known for his work "Here I Am, Lord", Dan has been composing music for Christian worship for more than thirty years. Dan wanted a guitar similar to his early 70's Martin DS-28, short-neck, slope-shouldered dreadnaught. The instrument I delivered to him in 2006 is as requested, with a German spruce top and Madagascar Rosewood back and sides. The rosette is a sunburst of rosewood, with abalone inlay. The headstock has a custom abalone insert, requested by Dan.

The next instrument is a dreadnaught with a Sitka spruce bearclaw top and Australian Lacewood back and sides, commissioned in 2007. The rosette is a sunburst of lacewood, accented with abalone inlay.

The next instrument is an OM style 000 with a German spruce top and Madagascar Rosewood back and sides, also commissioned in 2007. The rosette is a sunburst of rosewood, accented with abalone inlay.

A number of consignment instruments were completed in 2007 and are available at Acousticopia, located in Annapolis, MD. The owner, Greg Dibos, will be happy to assist with any inquiries. The guitars are described below, along with several photos of each instrument. Click on any of the photos for an expanded view.

The first instrument is an OM style 0000 jumbo cutaway with a bearclaw Sitka spruce top and Bubinga back and sides. The rosette is a sunburst of flamed Koa, accented with abalone inlay.

The second instrument is also an OM style 0000 jumbo cutaway with an Alaskan yellow cedar top and Granadillo back and sides. The rosette is a sunburst of flamed Koa, accented with abalone inlay.

The third instrument is an OM style 000 with a German spruce top and Birdseye Maple back and sides. The rosette is a sunburst of flamed Koa, accented with abalone inlay. The neck is Maple, with a Bloodwood fingerboard and bridge.
